About

We close the gap between the evidence and the practice.

Decades of research establish resistance training as the primary prevention for sarcopenia. Most Canadians at risk have no access to safe, structured, affordable programs. Closing that gap is why this organization exists.

Mission

To prevent sarcopenia before it begins.

Jasclair Wellness Institute exists to make the evidence on healthy aging accessible — and actionable — for Canadian adults 55–70: the population most likely to benefit from primary prevention, and least likely to be served by commercial fitness.

One of those activities is running today: free public education and plain-language research summaries on muscle health and aging, open to anyone with no sign-up. The second is planned — free, virtual 12-week cohort programs that turn the evidence into a guided, coach-led practice, with live group sessions, structured home training, and a peer community. Cohort 1 is targeted for Fall 2026 and has not yet run.

We are building toward grant-eligible delivery: a measurement framework published in advance of any results, governance documented openly including its current gaps, and program substance that extends beyond any single technology partner.

Why an NPO

The NPO model lets JWI focus on beneficiary outcomes rather than subscription growth. It enables grant funding, in-kind partnerships, and trust from the public health community in ways a commercial entity cannot access.

Legal structure

Jasclair Wellness Institute is incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (CNCA) as a federal non-profit corporation. We are not a registered charity and cannot issue charitable tax receipts.

Governance

JWI is a federal non-profit corporation under the CNCA, founded and directed by Jas Clair. Our incorporation details are published, and governance documents are available to funders and partners on request.

Leadership

Jas Clair

Founder & Director

Jasclair Wellness Institute was founded by Jas Clair to close a gap that kept coming up: the science on strength training for older adults is overwhelming and settled, yet Canada has almost no accessible, structured, affordable program to help people act on it before decline sets in.

Jas leads JWI's program design, research curation, partnerships, and grant work, working from the published evidence base in aging and physical activity. The commitment is simple: evidence first, beneficiaries first, and free to participants.

How we operate

In its founding stage, JWI runs lean and founder-led. That is a deliberate choice: it keeps overhead low so that grant funding and in-kind support go directly to delivering free programs rather than to administration. As the organization grows, staffing will expand and be disclosed here.

Evidence base

Grounded in published research.

Every program decision and every article in our library traces back to published research, cited so you can check it yourself. That is the standard we hold our own material to, and it is the reason the library exists in the first place.

Our program design draws on published resistance-training and muscle-health research, including work from McMaster University's muscle-physiology group, and on Canada's 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for adults 65 and older. We have no affiliation with, or endorsement from, any university or research centre.

Principles

Evidence first

Every program decision traces to peer-reviewed research. We do not adopt interventions because they are popular; we adopt them because they work.

Open by default

We publish our incorporation details, our partnership terms, and our measurement framework — including its limitations — before we have any results to report. Governance documents go to funders on request.

Genuine additionality

We serve a population that commercial fitness does not. Our programs are free, our education is free to read with no sign-up, and our material is not a wrapper around a product.
